First the good, and there's plenty of it:-The bed came in 3 separate (enormous) boxes, was well-packed [...]he weight is quite substantial. It's a real piece of furniture. The finish is beautiful, the padding on the headboard is good, it's a great-looking bed. -You could spend 4 or 5 times as much on a similar bed at Pottery Barn and not get a better looking bed.The Bad:The side runners are supposed to slide into the head and foot boards and clip in. However, the slots to receive the side boards were inconsistently sized. Two were fine, one was tough, and the last was a mess. It took over an hour get the pieces to fit correctly. The wood split and I had to perform major surgery to get the bed together. I'm luck I have some wood-working experience and could fix this problem. The Very Bad:-There are 4 slats across the bottom of the bed that are intended to provide support for the box spring and mattress. These are made of 3/8 soft pine strapping.-To support the slats, there are four 3/4 x 3/4, 8 inch supports that are supposed to screw into the slats and extend down to the floor. These are utterly useless. With any movement at all, the supports rip right out of the slats.Okay. Great looking bed. Free delivery, weeks ahead of schedule. Great great price. Honestly, a much better bed than I expected for the price. And really, I resolved the structural issues by stacking books under the support slats. Just be careful putting it together (it's a two person job) and be aware that you'll have to DIY the under-support and you will not regret this purchase."..." Read more
