Acclaimed for his ironic interpretation of traditional forms, it is this sensibility that has projected Graves to a star among designers, as can be seen in his many designs for Alessi that clearly depict a “new Americana.” Michael Graves is known to spend more than half of his time on design alone, and the 9093 was no exception. The 9093 Kettle with Bird Whistle, as designed by Michael Graves, became a household favorite throughout the world from the very beginning (1985). This sole design has sold the greatest number of units in the entire history of Alessi, and, furthermore, it has been cited in numerous design manuals as one of the "most influential objects of the post-modern style." It is considered a forerunner to designs of today that incorporate a very "playful" approach.

Careful with this very expensive product Dont buy this beautiful teapot. It will last you for less than a week.I purchused mine and the first day we made our selves a tea burned the kettle and bird compleatly. Why? because it doesnt wistle!!!!! You would expect that a $180.00 Teapot wuold wistle and let you know when the water is boiling, right? Well believe me, this bird doesnt make a sound!!!! Neither me or my husband heard it! Nor my three kids!!! Sooner that later it was going to happen. Why did I ever spent this amouunt? For trash! L |

Love This Teapot! I absolutely love the design of this teapot and it has graced the top of my stove for many years. Unfortunately this is my 2nd one...a house guest not paying attention allowed the water to burn away (the bird was not all the way in place in the spout) and the knob and bird melted as well as the bottom was completely destroyed. I wouldn't think of replacing it with anything else other than this one. It is a beautiful design and looks stunning in my contemporary kitchen. The bird when pushed in correctly makes a very loud whistle sound! |

Michael Graves Kettle Product Review This is a class kettle that is also functional. It has a sleek shape and a modern, simplistic form. The bird whistle is a nice touch. I ordered a white handle and whistle. It looks fabulous in my kitchen - like having a piece of art on my stove. Love it! Service Review Excellent price and delivery by All Modern. Bird whistle kettle by Michael Graves It is now the highlight of all my tea kettles above the kitchen cabinets. I won't use it for tea, just aesthetic value. Gorgeous! |

everything i wanted it to be I use the kettle daily. It is beautifully chic in my kitchen. I do have to be certain to turn off the gas before removing the whistling bird or the steam gets me some - mindfulness only, not a true negative. |
