Great aviary for small birds from Bradenton, FL on 04/17/2015 – Verified Buyer
My husband and I spent some extra time and money and painted the red wood so it matched our house. We put cement blocks down and secured the aviary using brackets and cement screws to the blocks. We cut plastic strips and screwed the strips to areas near the roof that the birds began to chew on. This worked. We also added brackets to roof to better secure the roof to the aviary. I added chew toys for cockatiels and hung a basket from the hook in the center of the roof where the pole is suppose to hang. I did this because the basket gives the birds a place to sleep and hide during a storm. We have 2 cockatiels in the aviary. They love it! We no longer have a mess on our lanai. We view the birds from our lanai or yard. With some added work and added security, the aviary turned out really nice! I wish I could post pictures. Pros: I love the safety cage. The roof is gazebo like, really pretty. Cons: This aviary is best for small birds like finches, parakeets and canaries. If you put cockatiels in it, they may chew through the soft wood. With adjustments, you could put cockatiels in it, but you have to make it secure. I would not recommend this f

Not secure! from California on 12/10/2013 – Verified Buyer
When I was assembling this aviary I was thinking to myself how really great, secure, and sturdy it was. Well, it didn't last longer than two weeks. My birds chewed through al lthe wood and chewed the very top of it where the roof meets the sides. I even lost one of my females. They're baby parrots. I thought there was something on finish of the wood that was supposed to deter them from eating it, but they LOVED it. It's pretty much useless now, but I'm hoping maybe I can use it a little in the summer or something. It's really too bad because I fell in love with it when I saw it. Before they started eating it I would've given it a five.
