We've looked for a bench to store and put on shoes by the garage door for YEARS. I've almost gotten this several times on-line, but hestited b/c it seems cheesy -- e.g., pressed board backing. BUT it's the right color (black), and finish (NOT distressed, which my husband hates and would clash with our furniture), and size (compact). You also don't have the luxury/hassle of buying a seat pad and getting THAT to match too. After buying, assembling and then hauling back the Crate and Barrel cubby, and deciding that the Pottery Barn one would suffer the same distressed fate, and thinking it would be nuts to have a custom one for 9x the $$, I went ahead.
And it's fine. Not fine furniture, but fades in, is sturdy, and functions exactly as desired. The corners are a bit sharp, so I have to make sure it doesn't rip a hole in the couch back that it backs up against, and I'd prefer some shelves inside, but it's OK for the the price.
Arrived fine, easy to assemble."..." Read more
