great looking cabinet!---more for looks than function though. it happens to be perfectly suited for my use---an old seaside cottage renovation! and it will serve as an adequate desk for vacations. it is small in scale but will be fine for a laptop or postcard writing....the inside of the cabinet is slatted on the bottom and the drawers have cane bottoms so i will install a piece of glass or heavy plexi for added support but it will store papers and mail and a few office necessities. overall, it really is the look i wanted and it is nicely constructed and very well-detailed, but as an actual writing desk you would need a bit more room."..."  Read more

I was excited when I found this cabinet because I live in an apartment without a linen closet....voila! The Hartley Cabinet became my new linen closet at a fraction of the cost of having a closet constructed here in the city. I am THRILLED. Forget what it does, the cabinet itself is beautifully made, its a fine piece of furniture that my friends think I found antiqueing and had customized. The molding at the top nearly reaches my ceiling and makes it look a built-in but I love that I can take it with me to my next apartment, There is a TON of storage in this piece, drawers, shelves and it looks beautiful closed. I love these cabinets. I purchased two of them and put them in my kitchen for added storage. The are great for dishes and platters that won't fit in standard cabinets. They have 10 shelves located about 5.5 inches apart and are secured with screws but can be removed if you want less shelves and more room between them. It also has two drawers that are great for storing dish towels or utinsils. This is a very well made heavy piece of furniture.They are very shabby chic in style. The are also very tall [7' I believe] so make sure that you have plenty of overhead room. They would make good extra storage in any room."..."  Read more

This is a spacious, beautiful, well-constructed dresser, but there are a couple of things any potential buyers should consider. It is a somewhat cooler shade of gray than in the photo, and either the paint or the drawer wallpaper adhesive has a strong, unpleasant smell that will take quite a while to air out. The drawers are removable, so my suggestion would be to pull them out, thoroughly wipe down the inside of the dresser with a damp cloth, wipe the sides and the inside of the drawers, and if have a backyard or a balcony, air out the drawers for a few hours before putting the whole thing together again. It might still retain some chemical smell on the inside, but much less noticeable and it will be on its way to disappearing that much sooner.
