I love how the hinges prevent the lid from accidentally slamming shut. They hold the lid at whatever angle you put it in until you close it. The hinges and latch were a little tricky to install, but I can see why the hardware needed to be installed after assembling the chest to avoid problems with alignment. The width and depth made it a perfect fit for a tight spot. The oak finish and decorative feature match my casual honey-oak dining table and chairs perfectly.
