Nice house, but...
Susan from Bradenton, FL
I care for a small feral cat colony in NE Ohio. I got 2 of these houses for the cats. They are nice to keep them out of the wind and rainsnow, but as for the keeping them warm, not so much. There are gaps in the doors that let the cold air in and the doors aren't exact, so it makes them stick a bit on one side. That makes it difficult for the cats to push open. It would be so helpful if there was something that would fit tight against the front, that made some sort of roof over the opening so that the rain and snow wasn't able to get in through the gaps. With the shape, it is difficult to make something to keep that from happening. I do have the heated pads inside the houses. These would be great in a garage or even a semi enclosed area. But the cats do use them. They just aren't as warm as the ones I make from Sterilite and pink foam board insulation.

I bought two of these for my feral cats. Initially I removed the bottom half the the door and the cats took to them immediately. Although the cats like them, which is important, I am am really disappointed in the claim that these are insulated. Where the door pieces fit together are sizable gaps (up to 12 an inch in two spots) that let cold air come in and warm air get out. Whether it is because of the gaps in the door, the unplugged drain hole in the floor, or because the insulation isn't what the company claims, I am not sure, but with the door closed and occupied by a cat, the average inside temperature is about 4-6 degrees warmer than outside. I have a 1-inch thick Styrofoam cooler, with no door, occupied by a cat, that stays about 18 degrees warmer than the outside temperature. Body heat generated by a larger animal, or multiple cats might keep this house warmer. I think overall this makes a good shelter from wind and rain (so far), but if you are looking for something truly warm, this is not it.

I am very happy with the dog houses (I ordered multiple). I really like how well they are insultated. That is a great feature. They are also made well. Everything went well with my order.
