some things to know from Boston, MA on 08/21/2011 – Verified Buyer
I bought the Sandy and Terracotta colors to make a checkerboard cork floor in my kitchen.

The contractors had a little challenge placing the tiles down as the two tiles were off in size by 3/16" sometimes and since there is no grout, you seal them tight, the checkerboard was tough for them to do - but visually that design looks nice.

The cork, being so thin, really does telescope any defects in the subfloor. My contractor took pains to set up a smooth subfloor but you can notice minor bumps under the cork. Perhaps a layer of something between the floor and cork would eliminate that problem.

While the workers were finishing the floor, a few dings and one flaking corner occurred making me very worried about the longevity of cork. The floor contractor did fix them and while moving stuff back into my kitchen, I did drop a wine bottle opener on the cork as was worried about the jab it would leave- I didn't see anything.
